Janeesh’s political career began at the grassroots level with the Kerala Students Union (KSU) at Perumbavoor Polytechnic. His natural leadership qualities saw him rise through various positions, including the Thrissur District President and State Vice President of the Youth Congress, before succeeding Rahul Mamkootathil as State President in October 2025. This deep-rooted experience in student and youth activism has shaped him into a leader who understands the nuances of ground-level organizing and the specific challenges faced by the common citizen in Kerala.
In the current political landscape, Janeesh has distinguished himself as a vocal critic of the LDF government. He has consistently championed the rights of the marginalized, famously asserting that welfare pensions are a "people's right" rather than a government "charity." His campaign in Kodungallur has already witnessed emotional scenes, such as when his mother’s fellow MGNREGS workers pooled their meager savings to support his election fund—a powerful gesture that underscores his identity as a "son of the soil" and his deep connection with the working class.
