The people of Kerala will never forget certain media organizations and journalists who spread enthusiasm among the public by broadcasting only honest news in this struggle for the welfare of Kerala. No matter how much we commend these media friends who presented news to Keralites without fearing anyone amidst various manipulative and phobia-inciting news, it wouldn't be enough. Even though several channels received boxes full of money, a few anchors and reporters who raised the prestige of Keralites to the skies conveyed their stances very precisely to the people without paying heed to any of it. It is also the responsibility of the new government to ensure they do not displease them.

Asianet News and the Uncompromising Stance

Asianet, which reaches us daily with an ever-growing bond under the tagline 'Nerode Nirbhayam Nirantharam' (With Truth, Fearless, Continuous), stands at the absolute forefront in this regard. Regardless of their management's politics, they were presenting only news that Keralites could trust during the six months of this election. Unni Balakrishnan once again became the darling of Kerala without mortgaging his individuality. While Vinu, P.G. Suresh Kumar, and Sindhu Sooryakumar preserved their individuality, some others tried to deviate from it. Vinu, who once described Minister Jaleel as petty, dealt a significant blow to Mathew Kuzhalnadan this time. Sindhu Sooryakumar also did not forget to give a fitting reply to those who claimed they release news after accepting money. Suresh Kumar openly stated that certain interested parties are trying to foster Islamophobia in Kerala.

MediaOne: Precision and Truth Amidst Criticisms

MediaOne channel, which is moving forward with great hardship, demonstrated its truth and goodness during this election season. Although facing a lot of criticism from society, their editorial team handled the news with utmost care during these past six months. While Pramod Raman and Jimmy James spoke about matters with great discipline, their reporters were also in high spirits. The cleverness shown in handling the cash-for-votes issue in Palakkad was highly heartening news for democracy. Even though they presented statements that faced a lot of criticism because they are MediaOne channel, it must be said that they stood for justice.

Manorama News: Election Analysis with Finesse

With the confidence of 'Neral Kanam' (See it through Truth), Manorama TV handled things with great finesse. Johny Lukose presented their election analyses with utmost care. While they delivered survey results and exit polls to the people without hurting anyone, Romi was saying everything without explicitly saying it in the exit poll. Shani Prabhakar's courage garnered immense praise. While Shani spoke things openly without fearing or yielding to anyone, Nisha Purushothaman presented matters in a serious tone. Ayyappadas was becoming Kerala's very own anchor.

24 News: Natural Style and the Hype of Intros

Advancing with the motto 'News in 24 Hours Now', 24 News spread enthusiasm through Sreekandan Nair in his natural style without showing their hardships to the public, while Hashmi took it up like a Sevens football match. Hashmi's intro presentation before the news was shared far and wide across Kerala. Setting aside the usual pleasing news, they fought a life-and-death battle this time. As other anchors joined and worked alongside them, they all tried to maintain at least some decency in the election analyses.

Mathrubhumi and News18 Channels: Suspicions of Decline in Quality

It is now a doubt whether the news anchors or the management are the problematic ones behind the Mathrubhumi channel—which operates under the headlines Truth, Equality, Freedom—plummeting to a mere fourth-rate channel standard. Why all media are degrading to such an extent remains a question mark. One should not be surprised if the public, who enjoyed their survey results, now think the exact opposite when listening to their news. News18 channel, which operates with the blessings of Mukesh Ambani, was churning out channel news in a state of mind resembling 'more dead than alive.' Since not many people watch the channel, the anchors can at least console themselves.

Reporter TV: Criticisms and Smrithi Paruthikad's Stances

The mafia channel named Reporter, which operates under the headline 'Struggle for Justice', seems to think that 'Justice' (Neethi) is just a woman's name. The very structure of the channel, which serves nothing but injustice, is built on injustice. The owners altogether are those who thrive on injustice. They are people dragging their days along with bundles of lawsuits. The biggest farce turned out to be Doctor Arun Kumar, the bald Arun. It is hard to think how these kinds of humans face the public. It causes great distress as to why people like Smrithi Paruthikad live by accepting salaries from them. Smrithi is truly a brave woman with strong convictions. The sooner she escapes from there, the better it is for her!!

Big TV: Failures in Election Analysis

It was most distressing to think about the styles of Big TV, which rushed into Kerala claiming to be fearless and impartial. It is sad why these people even started a channel like this. Even if it is the money of Vijay Vennam from Telangana, money is money, isn't it? There is an old saying that even if you throw it in the river, you should measure it before throwing. Anil Ayroor is a good person; except for having a bit of creativity, it is certain that he is not a good organizer. What we saw was an election analysis where everything washed away, just like Sujaya Parvathi's makeup. It made one feel why Venu and those with him are gambling with life like this. Since Lakshmi Padma had clear stances, she cannot be blamed. What unnecessary things this channel tried to deliver to the people! Fortunately, since nobody watches it, we can take consolation in the fact that abusive comments were very few.

The Future of Second-Tier Channels and Management Maturity

Channels like Jaihind, Janam, Kairali, Kaumudy, Amrita, and Jeevan were like a boiling sambar meant for someone else. They themselves did not know for whom they were churning out these news stories. These are channels that can be improved if the managements decide things with a little more maturity. Even if they do not reach the front row, they can easily recover from such a pathetic state. Understanding that there is still space in Malayalam for many niche news segments, if they come forward, people might occasionally watch these channels too.

Call for Change and Wishes to Media Friends
