Kerala is currently in a post-election slumber following the 2026 assembly polls. The most scrolled-at content by the youth, both within and outside Kerala, has been the high-voltage "Kottikkalasam" (campaign finales) held across various regions. In this regard, no one could surpass the intensity of Malabar. This time, the candidate embraced by the youth was Fathima Thahlia in Perambra. While numerous stages featured Kerala's Bigg Boss stars and NDA candidates celebrating the election, Priyanka Nair and Sreenadevi Kunjamma participated in the campaigns with a very cool demeanor. The most notable candidate was Ramesh Pisharody. The Palakkad constituency received the most news prominence this time. Those who went relatively unnoticed were Anoop Antony in Piravom and PK Navas in Tanur. In Thodupuzha, Apu Joseph led a dignified campaign. The prevailing opinion among the youth is that the UDF will govern Kerala with a clear and strong majority. In opinion polls conducted just before the election, nearly 70% of the youth stated that the UDF might secure between 102 to 105 seats. This data was gathered from surveys conducted in five phases between January and early April 2026, involving 555 villages, 5,555 social media accounts, and 55,555 young individuals. Among them, 70% suggested Opposition Leader VD Satheesan as their preferred Chief Minister, while 30% stood with Pinarayi Vijayan.
Leadership Preferences and Seat Matrices
According to post-election opinions collected directly and from 1,400 social media accounts across 140 constituencies (totaling 14,000 respondents), if the UDF comes to power with over 90 seats, most youngsters believe VD Satheesan should become the Chief Minister. They firmly assert that if the tally exceeds 90, Satheesan is the primary architect of that victory and can provide good governance. However, if the UDF only secures between 71 to 75 seats, they wouldn't mind seeing Shashi Tharoor, Ramesh Chennithala, or KC Venugopal as the Chief Minister.
Popular Issues and Approval Ratings
Current statistics show that VD Satheesan enjoys the support of 55.7% of the youth, while Shashi Tharoor is backed by 18.3%. Ramesh Chennithala receives 14.1% support, and KC Venugopal stands at 12%. The most attractive statement according to the youth was regarding the "Vehicle Modification" issue—a topic they are deeply passionate about. Additionally, their major grievances included the inability to celebrate the New Year grandly and the police denying permission for music concerts (Ganamela) at temples and churches. They strongly suggest that these policies must be changed.
