കേരള പോലീസിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക സംവിധാനങ്ങളെ ദുരുപയോഗം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് മെറ്റ (Meta) പോലുള്ള ആഗോള ടെക് ഭീമന്മാരെ സ്വാധീനിക്കുന്നത് അപകടകരമായ കീഴ്വഴക്കമാണ്. സൈബർ സെല്ലിന്റെ മറവിൽ ഇടതുപക്ഷ അനുകൂലികളായ ഐടി പ്രൊഫഷണലുകളെ വലിയ പ്രതിഫലം നൽകി നിയമിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് പ്രതിപക്ഷ പേജുകളും ഗ്രൂപ്പുകളും പൂട്ടിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു എന്ന ആക്ഷേപം ഗൗരവകരമാണ്. സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യയെ ജനനന്മയ്ക്കായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിന് പകരം രാഷ്ട്രീയ എതിരാളികളെ അടിച്ചമർത്താനുള്ള ആയുധമാക്കുകയാണ് ഇവിടെ ആഭ്യന്തര വകുപ്പ് ചെയ്യുന്നത്.

സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയാ പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമുകൾക്ക് മേൽ ഇത്തരത്തിൽ നിയന്ത്രണം ഏർപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഭരണകൂടം, നാളെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കമ്മീഷനെ പോലും സ്വാധീനിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജനാധിപത്യപരമായ പ്രചാരണ രീതികളെ അട്ടിമറിക്കാൻ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. കലാശക്കൊട്ട് പോലുള്ള പരമ്പരാഗത പ്രചാരണങ്ങളെ തടയുന്നതിലൂടെയും സൈബർ ഇടങ്ങളിലെ പ്രതിപക്ഷ സാന്നിധ്യം ഇല്ലാതാക്കുന്നതിലൂടെയും ഒരു ഏകപക്ഷീയമായ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് അന്തരീക്ഷം സൃഷ്ടിക്കാനാണ് ശ്രമം നടക്കുന്നത്. ഇത് വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുകളുടെ സുതാര്യതയെപ്പോലും സംശയത്തിലാക്കുന്നു.
