A Technical Marvel, but Slightly Slow in Pace
Patriot arrives as a major experiment in Malayalam cinema. After watching the film, one thing becomes clear: the director has a strong visual language and a controlled style of filmmaking. This is not a film made merely to create loud excitement. In theme and presentation, Patriot is a serious cinematic attempt with a high production standard.
However, like a delicious meal that loses a little flavour in between, the film’s slower portions slightly affect the overall viewing experience. Especially in the second half, a few scenes could have been trimmed to make the film tighter and more engaging.
A Mammootty-Centred Film
Patriot is primarily a film centred around Mammootty. He carries the emotional and narrative weight of the story with great maturity. The pressure within the character and his silent struggle are portrayed without exaggeration.
Mohanlal, Kunchacko Boban, and Fahadh Faasil appear in important roles, but the soul of the film remains strongly connected to Mammootty’s character.
